Cobber-Day...

So, today i went to concordia to "compete" with a bunch of people for their presidential scholarship... It was an early morning, we left at about 5 this morning. When we got there at eight there was food (yes!) and juice, and then we had to sit through a little speech on Concordia and the wonderfulness (yes, i realize its not a word, but i liked it) of their academic community. After that, we broke off into groups of four or five and were escorted to a classroom on campus, where we would have our "discussion group." Basically, a group of three girls and me were given "prompting questions" and the two professors would sit and listen to us discuss, add little comments along the way, and evaluate how we interacted in a group environment. it sounds pretty horrible, but it actually went better than expected... i wa proud. kind of. too bad i borrowed these completely gorgeous flats of karlas and they made my feet hurt. after the campus tour the heels of my feet were bleeding through my socks. gross. so i didn't call brett or bill or jake or amy, because i was crabby and tired, and because a little part of me wanted to see the campus for myself and not immediately connect what i think of it to my wonderful friends up there. because, even though it would be awesome to go to college with them, i really need to take a step back and look at how the college would work for ME. so thats what i tried to do. who knows what ill think when i actually make my decision, but the hefty 40k that they gave me today kind of sways my opinion a little. sad, how money affects my mind..... :P

Water

I've decided I'm going to start carrying around a water bottle with me again. All the studies show it's good for you: it helps flush out your system, it makes your skin look better, and it makes you less hungry. What more could you ask for? Besides, previous times I've done it, it helped me get over my sore throats. (Something I need desperately)

Colleges

Today, my dad and I went to visit UMD. I thought it was going to be a waste of my time since I had not heard many good things about their music program. When we got to the campus, Kelsey Boran gave us the "grand" tour. The campus is nice, but there were a lot of people there. I'm not sure if I want to go to that big of a school or not. After the tour, my dad and I met with Rachel Inselman who is the head vocal performance coach/teacher. She went to the Cleveland Institute of Music for her education, a school I was looking in to. She was really nice and personable. I feel I could get along with her really well. She knew what she was talking about and told me that their choir wasn't one of the greatest, but since that's not my focus that's OK. Overall, I think this school is number 3 or 4 on my list. But, first things first, I need to be accepted.

P.S.!!!!!!!!!

BRIE- FACE IS MY HERO.
(just thought i would add that. it was a heck of a swim at sections...)

HEY...

So, Maggie said that the swimmer girls had a blog and that im part of it. which is rather sweet. does it matter if i type with all lower case and not very good grammer? good. because i can't spell that word.....

Anyways, sections was wonderful, as maggie said... it was awesome to be a part of a team like that. everyone was pretty close (well, to a point) and i loved it. being a manager was kind of rough for the first day, because there was a lot of work, but the second day was loads upon loads of fun. after the meet we went to old country buffet, which was pretty good:) it was raining HARD when we got out, so i had to RUN all the way to the bus... jenny boran and i estimated it was about 75 yards. thats a record. well, since june. it felt good, until afterwards... i realize that it probably wasn't a good idea... shhh dont tell the therapists...

thats it, i dont feel like there's anything else to say. orchestra concert tuesday, and kris is out of town, bummer. but thats life, it goes on.

Section Swimming

This weekend we had our section swim meet at Tech. Shaving, of course, is the most wonderful feeling in the world. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I started shaving on Thursday. Our team was amazing, and we took second place out of, I believe, eight teams. We have eight people going on to state: the medley relay (Robyn Wernberg, Jessica Reese, Brianna Elg, and Jodi Larson), 200 IM (Kristin Geppert), 100 Breast (Jessica Reese), Diving (Jenny Klabo), and two alternets ( Destiney Schindele, and Ronia Grammer). I know that my name isn't amongst them, but I know I'm by far not the greatest swimmer. I'll hopefully still get to go down and watch them Novermber 22 and 23, but that may not be possible seeing as I'm grounded until the end of November.

First Post

Well, finally I'm writing a post. Holy cow! I finally have time now that swimming's done.
